This is my online catalog, offering a range of parts I can supply for Norton SOHC engines, both for International and early SOHC Manx. I can also offer parts for Amal TT carburettors, BTH KD1 racing magnetos and am expanding my catalog all the time to include new products related to the restoration of Nortons and competition motorcycles. All prices quoted are in GBP Sterling, but this is the price you pay, there is no VAT to add.
At present I accept Personal Cheques and PayPal and can normally deliver within 2 days of the order being confirmed

I am happy to post, and try to keep this as close to cost as possible, dependent on weight.
Once you have emailed me with your order I will confirm the delivery cost before final confirmation (I advise that all orders are insured to ensure delivery - from past experience!).

Note : Many of the items shown below I have had made in small batch's by high quality engineering companies, or come from trusted manufacturers and suppliers. You may find some cheaper reproduction parts elsewhere, but everything I offer I try to ensure will be of the highest possible quality. Because of this I offer a full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied (within 10 days of purchase)

Update August 2008: I have tried as much as possible to maintain prices, but the cost of Stainless Steel has risen alarmingly in the last year, and because of this there have been some items I have been forced to increase the price for. I must emphasis that I am trying to keep these increases to a minimum, and hope you will understand that this is only a reflection of the inreased cost of production

SOHC (Model 30M/40M) Magnesium Bevel Castings

- Magnesium SOHC (Manx Spec) Bevel Castings. Both top and bottom available.

- As fitted to pre-war Works bike, some 'Manx Spec' customer bikes and Post-War Gardengate Manx's

- Made from high quality Magnesium AZ81, heat treated to T4 (American spec for A8, 3L122 heat treated - comparable to Norton's original Elektron material). Finished casting is supplied fully chromated

- Cast from patterns identical to original, including the internal form (unlike some cheaper patterns)

- Castings are fully machined, and include the phosper bronze bearing fitted and honed in situ, with oilways just as per original. Bearings are also pinned as per original

- Castings are supplied fully black chromated (i.e. after machining) and lightly sprayed in water repellent oil for added protection and are ready to fit

- As with the magnesium items above, castings are just as per original, are fully machined, and include the phosper bronze bearing fitted and honed in situ, with oilways just as per original. Bearings are also pinned as per original

Latest Update - August 2008
- Unfortunately the original type Twin row bronze caged ball bearing is now no longer available, so I am in the process of re-stocking with the single row (non self centring) variety. These type are acommon replacement and will work just as well.

They do not self-centre like the originals, which might make cambox fitting more fiddly, but a big advantage is that they won't shed balls like the originals do!

Vertical Shaft Tube - Stainless Steel

Manufactured from seamless stainless steel and ground polished, these tubes are manufactured with exactly the same pressed flange as the original items.
To my knowledge they have been unobtainable for some time now and are lovely to look at. Look really great when fitted along with my stainless union nuts

All main bearings I supply are genuine '3 Spot' bearings, as recommended and fitted to original Cammy Nortons. These bearings are normally considered a better bearing for high performance engines.
However, non '3 Spot' bearings can be supplied if required

Main Bearing - Timing Side Twin Ball Bearing : Model 30M/40M (Manx)


Twin row caged ball bearing. Fitted to Model 30M/40M (Manx) SOHC engines. This bearing is now obsolete and unobtainable in original '3 spot' specification with bronze cage.
I can offer two similar alternatives:

— Modern NSK (originally Hoffman) '3 spot' version, now manufactured using nylon cage. Although high quality, great care must be taken with these when fitting and soldering bearing plate over them, to ensure the cage is not melted.

— I also have a very limited supply of original R&M non-'3 spot' bearings with bronze cages. Although these bearings do not have the slightly looser tolerence of a 3-spot bearing, they are probably the last steel caged version available. When their gone their gone!

Mainshaft/Camshaft Bearing - Securing Plate Screw: All SOHC Models


- Countersunk screw used to retain securing plates for both main bearings in the crankcases and front camshaft bearings. These are the screws that are soldered over their heads once fitted, to ensure they dont work loose. Rather than trying to clean up the horrible old gashed ones in your engine - why not fit new ones!

Gearbox Bearing - Mainshaft Main Bearing : All Models - SOHC/OHV/SV

- Large shielded single row ball bearing. This is the main bearing fitted to all upright and laydown Norton gearbox's from the 1930's - 1950's gearbox's. This is a good quality American bearing

It is of the fully shielded variety (most originals were shielded on the outer side, but then used a seperate shielding ring on the inner side). It can either be fitted like this, or if you prefer, the shield on one side can be easily removed (email me for more details)

- This profile is almost identical to Norton SOHC 30M 115.87 and 115.887, being just fractionallly less extreme on full lift (approx 20thou) and are suitable for both road and racing 500cc Internationals and 30M machines

- This nut fits on the end of the camshaft after fitting cams and roller back bearing
- This nut should be tightened to 55lb sq inch, therefore it is extremely difficult to remove. Sometimes it is actually less destructive to destroy this nut when removing, and save the camshaft.

- This is the bronze plunger used to feed oil to the camshaft lobes if using central oil feed on your cambox, i.e. Racing Internationals and SOHC Manx
- A shorter version is also available for fitting to Featherbed Internationals

- Note : These plungers are not interchangeable with the Bigend Feed Plunger, as that plunger has a bigger feedhole!

SOHC Model 30 and 30M Twin Caged Roller Big End Assemblies

- Manufactured by a well established British bearing supplier, these bigends are made as per the original design (I use them in my own bikes).
- Both Model 30 (International), Model 30M (Longstroke Manx type) and later (lipped) DOHC Shortstroke Bigend assemblies available
- Model 30 Big Ends come with Hex bigend nuts supplied, but DOHC Bigends (see photo) require the special castellated nuts which are sold seperately
- These items are special order, but delivery time normally quite quick. I can also supply Carillo con rods with these bearings already fitted if required

Note : I normally keep at least one bigend in stock, for immediate delivery, but if fitting is required please contact me for further details
